HISTORY:

Freedom Church was founded in 2003, and started as a bible-study in a home. From there, we grew to a weekly Monday Night meeting, and later started meeting on Sundays. Two Churches partnered together in the planting of this Church (which was formerly known as Morning Star Church of Greater Philadelphia). Morning Star New York in New York City, (www.msny.org) and Grace Covenant Church in the Greater Washington DC area (www.gracecov.org).

MISSION:

Freedom Church exists to Honor God and advance His kingdom through: Church Planting, World Missions, and Campus Ministry to reach “Every Nation in Our Generation”. Our Vision is to impact the City of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley Region by creating environments where people can connect with God and with one another. We believe that Church should be the most irresistible place in the community, and that when God breathes His life into a people, there’s nothing they can’t do together.

CORE VALUES:

Among the things that get us up in the morning are: Acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of our lives (Col. 2:6), Sharing the Life-Changing Gospel of Jesus Christ (John 3:16), Helping Others Grow in their Relationships to Christ (Matt. 28:19-20), Developing Leaders for Sustainable Generational Transfer (II Tim. 2:2), and Allowing God to Place each of us into a Family Context for maximum productivity and genuine life-change (Ps. 68 & Ps. 127)

BELIEFS:

What does Freedom Church believe about the Bible?

-We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

What does Freedom Church believe about God?

-We believe there is one eternal, almighty and perfect God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

What does Freedom Church believe about Jesus Christ?

-We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

What does Freedom Church believe about the Holy Spirit?

-We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

What does Freedom Church believe about life after death?

-We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

What does Freedom Church believe about the Church?

-We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We also embrace and adopt the Nicean Creed of AD325 and Chalcedon Creed of AD451.

Our Staff:

Pastor David & Kathleen Estes

Pastor David Estes has been the Lead Pastor of Freedom Church since October 2005. With his wife Kathleen, they focus their time and attention on connecting with people, and connecting people to God. Both David & Kathleen have backgrounds in full-time ministry and in the Entertainment Business as well. Kathleen was a professional singer and actress, and David was a professional musician and Music Business Executive for several years. After 9/11, they both left their careers and returned to their first calling as full-time vocational ministers – first in New York City (where they continue to serve and consult occasionally), then in Philadelphia.
